Seminarians Eugene Issac Leaño and Alexeis Emmanuel Gelverio, including alumnus Jim Ryan Sumbilla, presented their respective research papers in an undergraduate philosophy conference held in the University of Santo Tomas (UST) last April 06, 2017.

Leaño and Gelverio's paper are entitled "Zarathustra's Gift: The Relevance of Philosophy in the 21st Century" and "The Vocative Nature of Democracy", respectively, while Sumbilla's paper is entitled "The Christian Element in Jean Paul Sartre's Ethics." Leaño is currently the Academic Chairman and the top dean's lister of SPS while Gelverio is the Sports Chairman and also a dean's lister. Sumbilla was the former Academic Chairman of SPS.

The conference keynote speaker, Bro. Romualdo Abulad, SVD, Ph.D., highlighted the need for philosophy students to study more, to read more, to write more papers, and to do more research. He reminded them to become the best they can be today.

The one-day conference is part of the University's Philo Week Celebration and is a tradition in the Thomasian Community.
