The latest painting to come out from Fr. Armand Tangi’s prolific hands is “The Immaculate Heart of Mary and Cory Aquino.” It features the late president and icon of Philippine democracy praying the Rosary with the Blessed Mother blessing her and as if presenting her as a model. The idea of the painting first came from Fr. Catalino Arevalo, SJ.
Fr. Armand’s painting was unveiled and presented to the Aquino Family in the afternoon of May 15, 2010, in the course of a Marian conference given by Archbishop Socrates Villegas at the San Carlos Seminary Auditorium, EDSA-Guadalupe. At hand to receive the painting was Ms. Viel Aquino-Dee, daughter of Cory Aquino and younger sister of President-elect Noynoy Aquino. Present for the occasion was also Archbishop Ramon Arguelles, the president of Pueblo Amante de Maria Mariological Society of the Philippines which organized the series of Marian conferences.
The painting has been published by ST PAULS under the title “Sweet chain which unites us to God.” Viel Aquino shared that the original would be hung in the office of her president-brother in Malacanang Palace. Thus, the new president will be working under his two “intercessors.”
