FR. ANTHONY JOHN JAVIER, SSP, OFF TO HIS NEW MISSION IN ROME

Inspired by charity and strengthened by obedience, Fr. Anthony John “AJ” Javier, SSP is departing for his new mission in Rome. He will be integrated into the Information Service of the General Government, taking the place of Fr. Ulysses Navarro, SSP, who is returning to the Philippines after many years of service at the General House.

The Superior General, Fr. Domenico Soliman, SSP, effected Fr. AJ’s transfer from the Province of Philippines-Australia to Rome on January 14, 2026. In the months leading up to his departure, Fr. AJ dedicated himself to completing and handing over his responsibilities in the Creative sector of the Apostolate. Following his priestly ordination on March 25, 2025, he served as Manager of Graphics and Assistant Manager for New Product Development.

On the evening of April 20, 2026, during the traditional Monday Mass dedicated to St. Paul, the central community of Makati celebrated the “Order of the Blessing of a Missionary Sent to Proclaim the Gospel” as a send-off for Fr. AJ. In his homily, the Provincial Superior, Fr. Mario Sobrejuanite, SSP, recalled the invitation of the Superior General to all SSP members:

“In recent years, it has become increasingly necessary to reconsider our presence in the various countries where we already work. There are Circumscriptions that need the help of other confreres—a solidarity of persons that makes the future of our mission in those places possible.”

Fr. AJ’s openness to this new mission reflects a deep love for the Pauline vocation and apostolate—a love so concrete that it becomes a readiness to serve in a new cultural and ecclesial context.

During the celebration, Fr. AJ was given the missionary cross, a sign of Christ’s love and of our faith: to preach Christ crucified, who is the power and wisdom of God.

After the Mass, the community gathered in the refectory for a despedida supper in his honor. Fr. AJ is scheduled to depart for Rome on April 26, 2026.
