Impelled by St. Paul the Apostle’s conviction to “do everything for the Gospel” (1 Cor 9:23), and inspired by Blessed James Alberione’s prophetic challenge “not only to speak about religion, but to speak about everything in a Christian way” (Abundantes Divitiae, 87), the St. Paul Bible Ministry (SPBM)—a vital apostolic sector of ST PAULS—places the Word of God, the family, the youth, and communication at the very heart of its mission.

From its earliest beginnings, Blessed James Alberione worked tirelessly for the spread of Sacred Scripture—starting with the Gospels, then the New Testament, and eventually the entire Bible. In 1924, he established the Società Biblica Cattolica Internazionale (SOBICAIN), a global initiative that supports biblical projects, produces special editions for mission territories and underserved churches, and promotes the distribution of Scripture in numerous languages.

Among SOBICAIN’s most impactful fruits are the Pastoral Bibles, including the Christian Community Bible and Biblia Latinoamericana—widely used in South America and missionary settings.

At his death in 1971, Fr. Alberione was remembered as “the priest who distributed millions of Bibles”—not only through print but also via films, radio, records, and audio media.

Today, in faithful creativity to the charism of St. Paul and Blessed Alberione, the St. Paul Bible Ministry upholds the primacy of the Word of God in all its projects. In partnership with SOBICAIN in Rome, SPBM continues to promote Scripture animation, education, formation, and distribution—with special outreach to families, young people, and those in the peripheries: the poor, the imprisoned, and the forgotten
