Celebrating Excellence in Media

For the fourth consecutive year, ST PAULS was honored at the Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA). This year, its Publishing and Audiovisual teams received two major recognitions—Best Station ID and Best Youth Magazine—at the 47th CMMA held on November 19, 2025, at the City State Hotel in Manila.

Best Station ID Award

The Best Station ID award was given to “Lakbay Pasko” (Christmas Journey). This piece was composed by Cl. Russel Matthew Patolot, SSP, and directed by Fr. Keiv Aires Dimatatac, SSP. The production outperformed three major television networks in the same category for the second year in a row.

Best Youth Magazine Recognition

Also recognized once again as Best Youth Magazine was Youngster, ST PAULS’ youth-oriented publication. Its previous win dates back to 2018, showcasing its consistent quality and relevance.

Award Presenters

Receiving the awards were Fr. Angelo Paolo Asprer, SSP, Creative Director; Fr. Sebastian Gadia III, SSP, Periodicals Manager; Fr. Dimatatac, SSP, Audiovisuals Manager; and Cl. Patolot, SSP, who is also the editor of Youngster. The awards were presented by His Eminence Jose Cardinal Advincula, D.D., Archbishop of Manila and honorary CMMA chairman, alongside His Excellency Bishop Rufino Sescon Jr. of the Diocese of Balanga.

Other Notable Finalists

Other ST PAULS finalists included “Pag-ibig (God’s Love) with Reflections on the Seven Last Words of Jesus” and “Visita Iglesia 2025: Pilgrims of Faith, Journeying in Hope” for Best TV Special. Additionally, Halo: Sambuhay for Kids was nominated for Best Children’s Magazine.

The Theme of the Awards

Anchored on the theme “Share with Gentleness the Hope that is in Your Hearts” (1 Peter 3:15–16), the annual awards night—founded by the late Jaime Cardinal Sin—continues to recognize student and professional media practitioners. These individuals uphold and communicate Gospel values in their work.

The Impact of Media in Faith

Media plays a crucial role in shaping perceptions and spreading messages. In the context of faith, it serves as a bridge connecting communities and individuals to spiritual teachings. ST PAULS exemplifies this by producing content that resonates with the youth and the broader audience.

Engaging the Youth

Engaging the youth is essential for the future of any community. Publications like Youngster provide a platform for young voices. They encourage discussions on faith, values, and contemporary issues. This engagement fosters a sense of belonging and helps young people navigate their spiritual journeys.

The Role of Awards in Media

Awards such as the CMMA are vital for recognizing excellence in media. They motivate creators to strive for higher standards. Recognition not only boosts morale but also encourages innovation. It inspires media practitioners to explore new ways to communicate their messages effectively.

Future Aspirations

Looking ahead, ST PAULS aims to continue its tradition of excellence. The organization seeks to expand its reach and impact. By embracing new technologies and platforms, it can engage with a wider audience. This adaptability is crucial in a rapidly changing media landscape.

Conclusion

In conclusion, ST PAULS' achievements at the CMMA highlight its commitment to quality media production. The recognition received this year is a testament to the hard work and dedication of its teams. As they continue to share messages of hope and faith, ST PAULS remains a beacon of inspiration in the media landscape.

The journey of ST PAULS is a reminder of the power of media in shaping lives and communities. It is essential to support and celebrate those who strive to communicate meaningful messages.
