ST PAULS PYBE Relaunched for National Bible Sunday 2026

In line with the celebration of the Sunday of the Word of God and National Bible Sunday on January 25, 2026, the ST PAULS Bible Ministry held the Grand Finals of the 4th Parish Youth Bible Encounter (PYBE) on January 24, 2026, at the Alberione Hall, Makati City.

The event was participated in by ten parish teams from the Archdiocese of Manila, who successfully advanced from the online elimination round held on December 13, 2025.

The program was hosted by Fr. Angelo Paolo Asprer, SSP, and Ms. Joyce Chamorro. Serving as the panel of adjudicators were Pauline biblical scholars: Br. Hansel Mapayo, SSP; Fr. Oliver Vergel Par, SSP; and Fr. Gil Alinsangan, SSP, who acted as chairperson.

In his welcome remarks, Fr. John Klen Malificiar, SSP, Director General for Apostolate, emphasized that the Bible is not merely a source of information but a living Word through which God speaks to His people. He reminded the participants that when we open the Bible, we must first open our hearts—listening not only with our minds but with faith and love.

The quiz competition was conducted in three phases:

            •          Easy Round (1 point per question)

            •          Average Round (2 points per question)

            •          Difficult Round, consisting of ten questions

At the conclusion of the competition, the following teams emerged as winners:

            •          Champion: Saint Francis Xavier Parish, Diocese of Novaliches

            •          First Runner-Up: Presentation of Our Lord Parish, Diocese of Novaliches

            •          Second Runner-Up: Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, Diocese of Novaliches

The winning teams received cash prizes, medals, certificates of recognition, and ST PAULS products. All participating teams were likewise awarded certificates of recognition and ST PAULS products in appreciation of their participation.

Intermission and closing numbers in song and dance were rendered by the Parish Youth Ministry of Our Lady of Sorrows, under the care of the Society of St Paul.

The 4th PYBE was organized by the ST PAULS Bible Ministry, headed by Fr. Angelo Paolo Asprer, SSP. The secretariat was led by Clerics Mark Anthony Puyong and Melvin De la Cruz, SSP with the assistance of SSP Juniors and St. Paul seminarians from Silang, Cavite. In his closing remarks, Fr. Paolo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors and benefactors, with special mention of Asia Pacific College for providing the online platform used during the elimination round.
