Pasay City, Philippines — The 13th St. Paul National Bible Quiz (SPNBQ) Grand Championship brought together young Bible enthusiasts from different parts of the Philippines in a celebration of Sacred Scripture, faith, and friendship. Held on September 12, 2026, at the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City, the national championship carried the inspiring theme, “Sowers of the Word, Channels of Peace.” The event was organized by the Society of St. Paul, Philippines-Australia Province, in cooperation with the Sociedad Biblica Catolica Internacional (SOBICAIN), as part of its continuing mission to promote the Word of God through modern means of communication.
More than a competition in biblical knowledge, the SPNBQ seeks to encourage young people to know, love, study, and live the Word of God. The Bible is not presented simply as a book to be memorized for a contest, but as the living Word that forms Christian life and inspires young people to become witnesses of the Gospel.
This year’s Grand Championship involved 13 finalists from around 440 teams and 229 schools nationwide. Sisters of Mary School–Girlstown, Inc., Talisay, Cebu were the grand champtions. Second place went to Sisters of Mary School–Boystown, Inc., Minglanilla, Cebu, and Third Place to Sisters of Mary Banneux, Inc., Silang, Cavite.
The young participants study biblical books, characters, events, teachings, and Christian doctrine. But behind every question is a deeper invitation: “What difference does God's Word make in our lives?” Knowing the Bible is important, but living the Bible is even more important.
The 13th SPNBQ also comes at an important moment for evangelization in a digital age. Young people today live in a world of smartphones, social media, artificial intelligence, streaming platforms, and instant communication. Eliminations and semifinal stages of the Quiz were done online using the digital program produced by the Asia Pacific College while the championship was carried online from the venue.
The whole SSP community was involved in the different stages of the quiz, from planning, communicating with schools, and holding the eliminations, semifinals, and the championship rounds. The event was spearheaded by the ST PAULS Bible Ministry Coordinator Fr. Angelo Paolo Asprer, SSP.
